RAW research grant success

Dr Will Mayes, and an interdisciplinary group at Hull, have been awarded a large ~£800k grant from NERC’s Resource Recovery from Waste programme.

Titled ‘R3AW: Resource Recovery and Remediation for Alkaline Wastes’, the grant is led by the University of Hull and also involves the University of Leeds, University of Sheffield, Mineral Industry Research Organisation and Tata Steel Europe. The project investigates methods for recovering valuable metals from steel making wastes (primarily V and Ni).
