Academic elected to world-renowned ornithological organisation
Congratulations to Dr Darren Evans on being elected to the Council of the British Ornithologists’ Union (BOU).
Dr Evans was put forward by BOU members based on his reputation and previous work organising conferences with the BOU, and was elected by members at the recent AGM.
Founded in 1858, the BOU is one of the world’s oldest and most respected ornithological organisations with an international membership stretching across all continents.
The BOU publishes the journal IBIS – an international journal of avian science, currently ranked #1 in ornithology.
Dr Evans, a Senior Lecturer in Conservation Biology at the University of Hull, will Chair the BOU Meetings Committee, having successfully organised two conferences in the past.
He will also sit on the Engagement Committee, hoping to inspire and engage the next generation of ornithologists.
